In January, the 3rd-5th grade LEAP students began independent research called Passion Projects. Students brainstormed what they were passionate about as well as issues they were concerned with. Using a bracket, the students whittled down their ideas to combine both their passions and concerns into one project. Last week, one student presented her recycling plan, and this week two groups of students heard from guest speakers. Local conservation agent, Jeremy Edwards, spoke to students who were researching poaching and animal conservation, and Dade County Sheriff, Max Huffman, spoke with students researching the impact of drug abuse. We are very proud of the difference our students want to make in the world!
